    Default Nearly

Bought an ex hire car today, lucky escape on my part as it would seem it's been in a smash and not listed on hpi, 30 degree out central steering wheel position gave it away, so if you see a log book with ERAC UK on it, this is an Enterprise sourced car, beware, because I don't think the dealer was aware of the faults on it.

I took it out, while on the motorway I noticed the wheel wasn't tdc in a straight line, then as I got back I thought the box was either full on or nothing, so that's gonna be a Mechatronic unit required and even if VW replace it there's still a wait to get it done, but the main one was you can't straighten out a scrunched up coke can and the same applies to cars if they've had a bad enough whack, which I suspect this one has, drivers side rear door caught my eye also, didn't look properly aligned, it was so slight most would miss it, but I've got eagle eyes when it comes to car lines.

Looks like an Insignia after all in 12 mths time, might hold out for a tourer this time, I don't think I'm going VW this time after this, I noticed although the style in the car was nicer than a Vectra the current VW's seem to be built of very cheap materials, the dashboard trim could be a recycled chocolate box layer devider it feels so thin, I'm really in a jam with it tbh, the new Superb is a great car but has the looks of an ugly bird, a Mazda 6,Mondeo and Toyota Avensis (new model) all have something going for them but also something against in my mind, I can't justify Volvo money and I hate the Saab dashboard, I think when all said and done I know what I already knew, an Insignia will be a balance of modern looks, reliable, affordable to buy and run, and I just cannot seem to see this combination anywhere else within my budget, I guess ppl will have to live with less room in the rear, mind you I did 300 miles in the Superb today and she ate it up, I had 2 hrs sleep last night before setting off and I still made it there and home without a break 7 hours later, and it was another hour before I crashed out, so you can see just what a hard act to follow she really is.

It would've been a problem child I think Rich, still the dealer has so far been very good about it, and I should see my deposit returned to me next week, so all in all I had a run out that cost me 30 notes in fuel and tolls, so it's not the end of the world, plus it showed me the Sport variant of the model isn't for me either as it's way to harsh on the road for a 10 hour shift, I think you lowering fanatics would find it right up your street though

lol mate the dealer was fully awear we used to sell cars like this all the time and every one had been smashed in some way or damaged inside ..the hire companys dont have inshurance for the cars they only inshure the driver when rented ,so if it gets smashed they dont get payed out for the car so the car dont apear on the crashed data base (hpi clear),so they hold closed auctions for dealers and a limited number of companys to buy these damaged cars ,damage can range from small dents to major major damage and most do end up back on the road ....
