    Question delayed acceleration ?

hello i have a vectra estate sri 1.8 on a 07 plate petrol; it was serviced at vauxhalls last month it can be sluggish, has flat spots, slow to accelerate seems to be a delay before it responds, generally its sluggish in most gears and takes a while to get through them but when i am on the motorway it is perfect, the vehicle has allways performed this way so i tend to put up with it, im not after breaking the speed barrier but would like to know how to get a more immeadiate response from the accellerator. any help or advice? cheers mike

What you describe is a characteristic of the VVT engine, is that what yours is?

At lower speeds, it doesnt open all the valves, then after a certain amount of right foot, opens them all up allowing for quicker acceleration.

Not particulary keen on it, as it means you have a right problem in the towns, accelerating at low speeds, yet get it on an A/B road, and your laughing all the way.

Push it harder through the rev range/gears, and you should be able to see what i mean.

My 1.9cdti was sluggish and had flat spots! Doing the 'Air Box' mod did the trick! Wondered if this is worth a go for you?
