Default Removely of CD70 Navi with screen

I am thinking about removing my CD70 Navi & screen & then replacing it with either a double DIN all in one type unit or a Custom PC install.

But my main question is what do I need to keep the screen or can I replace it with a different none colour one or just not have a screen at all?

    Thanks

    Ade

you can leave your screen in like i have just done that way you can still see what your car is doing to the gallon act and mine has tyre presure sensors so i can still see all that info that you cant, the parts you loose are the navi part and the stereo display but still looks pretty good and you can control it all of the rollers on the steering wheel, and you can also change the time and date using your steering wheel with out having to put the orig head unit to do this, i have jujst installed a dbl din navi head hunit so if you need any help just give me a pm

Keep the screen in their unless you want to make a custom screen go in their.

I would keep the original radio for when you sell the car.

I would buy a small lcd screen and retro fit it in and hook it up to an all in one HU with bluetooth, sat nav, phone,DVD and then sell the screen and navi as one that way theres no tech2 issues

Thats is what I am thinking of doing. But using a PDA for the screen & have SAT NAV (tomTom) on it all the time. Just need to find a PDA with a screen bigger enough.

Dont remove your screen and dont remove your radio....

    1) The CID is a central point for key data on the CANBUS
    2) The Radio is a bridge between the high and low CANBUS

ITS this that caused major problems when the dealer tried to reprograme my car.... ( See my log down below in my sig )

After reading ccsnet thread, has anyone else had dealer issue after installing a aftermarket radio?

As I hate the Navi sat nav & cant trust it to egt where I want the best way. As lately it told me to do a 99 mile (2 hour) trip for a trip that could be quicker & shorter, 55 mile (1 hour & 15 mins) in fact.
