    Default VX Price up AGAIN

I don't known if i'm seeing things or what but i've just been on the Vauxhall site and built an Insignia and it's gone up by about £1300 since last week, is it just the Insignia or is it all the vx range that's gone up?

I bought a July 08 Astra CDTi 1.9 (150) SRi XP, 9 days ago I paid £9500 for it (it was priced up at £10k)

In the preceeding week or two I saw about 10 for sale at £10k

    Looking now, they're £11k!

i just don't understand why vx would do this, i can understand used car prices going up, more people are now opting to buy second hand cars over new ones what with the current climate, but surely upping the price of a new car isnt going to help them sell surely? even though i like it a lot i think vx have made a mistake with the insignia, i think because of the prices they have priced a lot of private buyers out of the market, imo vx have always been known for making pretty decent cars and pricing them well to suit all buyers, but i just dont understand the need to try and compete with the likes of bmw, mercedes, because they can't...but maybe they have just put the prices up to push used car sales up further, after all thats where they make the most money.

I don't understand why people buy new Vauxhalls at all, period. I think I'd rather wait 8 months and save £10k.

The reasons that things generally go up in price in a recession is, that companies need to make profit to survive.

In boom times, everything is geared towards volume and getting as many units (in this case, cars) out into the field as possible.

In recessionary times, we stop buying! Simple fact. Caused by many factors, mainly fear. (fear of losing a job, fear of losing the house, fear of not paying the bills, fear of getting a loan in case of any of the above happening, although the banks have seen off that one with the credit squeeze!)

Vx sell less cars, the problem is, that they need to either lay off employees to cut costs, or sell less units (cars) at a bigger profit to survive and keep their employees.

The problem is, that we (the consumer) have had things too cheap. The internet Kelkoo etc, Which!, Moneysaving expert, in the case of cars, the threat of foreign exports (Going to Holland or germany in the late 90's to buy a car and importing it in to the UK), made the retail industry scared to make money when they should. My industry (kitchen appliances), was guilty of going too cheap as well, but we have to do it to survive. My industry is suffering from increases over a year of nearly 35% in the case of some manufacturers, so you guessed it, some of our prices along with the rest of the industry have had to go up. The weak euro rate contributes, because if a company sells a product in the UK, but the parent company is European, any profit sent back to the parent company in the eurozone is suffering from weak exchange rates. So they need to sell it for more in this country to make money.

And that's why,,,,,,,,,,,,, Vx's manufactured in the eurozone countries have seen a probable increase!!
