Default Was a poorly car, but now fine!

As some know, I had a new gearbox fitted at the end of January as I completly lost 3rd gear (Still not had a actual issue with a 1.9 engine).

This was at 24000 miles. Vauxhall were fantastic and the whole thing was sorted within 5 days. I also paid for a new clutch out of my own pocket for peice of mind.

The flywheel was not replaced as it was still within tolerance but not too clever.

So I ran it for about 2000 miles and Vauxhall authorised a new flywheel as the original started to rattle, great I thought and a new one was ordered and fitted within 3 days.

But........Before I even left the dealer's, the technician called me over and said your not going to be happy as the rattle is still there.

Fortunatly for me, the Vauxhall field engineer so happened to be at the dealers so inspected my car, he agreed it was not right, so he was going to speak to someone at Vauxhall, as by now the gearbox, clutch and flywheel had been replaced.

After a week away on business, I got the call from the dealer, and Vauxhall had authorised them to replace the flywheel again, put in a new clutch (Although mine had done just 2000 miles) and a new clutch release bearing (Although it had a new one on the new gearbox).

All under warranty, and the car is just fantastic, it has never felt as good as it does now! It turned out to be a faulty new flywheel and may have caused damage to my new clutch.

The Vauxhall field engineer, even looked at my misted up fog lights and instructed the dealer the fit the snorkel kit to solve the problem.

Am I happy? Damn right I am, excellent service by my dealer and Vauxhall, no hassles what so ever.

The first time the gear box came out to be replaced, as the original flywheel was in tolerance, Vauxhall would not replace it.

The rest as they say is history.

Regarding the snorkel kit, Vauxhall have released a field remedy to stop the facelift fog lights misting up. If you speak to your dealer, they should do it under warranty.

It is a rubber tube with a 2 way vent hole in it to allow the fog's to breath.

The first flywheel was the dealers call, it was within tolerance, as Vauxhall will bounce flywheel warranty claims for items that are within tolerance, the dealer did not want to take that risk.

I won't slate Vauxhall in anyway as they have been fantastic and their customer service second to none.

not slating them as I too have never had a problem but if they had just bit the bullet it would have been sorted, the manhours must have cost more after all the extra messing around. That's all i'm thinking. Now i've said that I bet I ring them up and don't get anywhere with this snorkel kit now! LOL
