Default What is P0036 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

    Hi Guys,

Just read this code from my 1.8 (123bhp) Vectra C 52 reg using a new U480 reader.

Is this the Lambda sensor that is located in the engine bay that goes through the headshield into the downpipe?

    Similar to this picture: http://www.lambdapower.co.uk/images/...y_lsswap_1.jpg

What is Bank 1 related to?
If this is Sensor 2 where/what is sensor 1? and what is the Sensor after the cat?

Is this the one i need (£58.45)

I need to get htis fixed asap.

    Thanks

Banks 1 and 2 is just is a way of differentiating between the banks on 'V' engines. 4 pots will always be called bank 1 (as it only has one bank of cylinders)

Sensor 2 usually means post cat (so cat performance can be measured), the one in your pic would be sensor 1.

I don't know where sensor 2 is, as I've never looked for it.

Im not 100% sure but I think that heater banks could be glowplug related.. but im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.. seem to recall a similar problem on an astra works estate and it had new glowplugs fitted..

    Thanks guys

The spark plugs (as it is a petrol car) have recently been replaced when i got serviced at the garage.

So you guys reckon it is pointing at the sensor underneath the car then?

The second sensor might be underneath behind the engine. Most likely on the top of the exhaust.

    HO2S is
    H - Heated
    O2 - Oxygen
    S - Sensor

and what I wrote earlier is correct.

You sure about the code?? Could it be P0136?

    Default

I will double check the code later. I read the code using a U480 scanner, but this is the first time i have used it so i am assuming it is accurate. Any one else used / got one of these scanners?

It picked up 1 x DTC code.

Is it worth clearing the code? or am i best keeping keeping it in the memory incase i need to go to a garage?

    cheers
