    Angry Recovery cost RANT!!

Been exceptionally annoyed today by rip off recovery company. My girlfriend had a crash at the weekend and she went into the back of someone. Her car was a write-off (Fiesta N reg) all ok bit bruised. But what annoyed me just after it happened the officer on the scene said to her it needed recovering and didnt give her the option to get someone or tell her that she may not be covered under 3rd party. So when the recovery truck turned up and the driver told her she may not be covered I then told him thatd id get it removed to which the officer told me that Amy had already asked amy it needed recovering although she said she was still in shock and shaking.

Well this morning phoned the recovery company this morning and asked how much it will cost. I was first told £150 plus storage then straight away the man said no sorry because the needed to use a specialist winch (to pull a fiesta up a recovery truck with all wheels ok and moving!!!!) it the went up to £265!! Then the storage charge was £60 (3 Days since Saturday evening called 9am!) Then to add VAT and also she doesnt get paid till Wednesday the total bill they require is close to £417!! I cant belive they can charge this much. I have contacted the local paper, complianed to the ICC and tried every avenue. We both have had a hard year so far she was declared bankrupt last year (already tried there but the car wasnt included) and we are just getting our feet on the ground.

So not only have we got to pay the money but we also have to find money on top of that so she can get a cheap car to get to and from work. I hope these people have karma coming right back for em!!!!

not a good weekend mate what comes around goes around, id make small payments to them, and make them wait, if your mrs already has bankcrupcy against her they cant make her credit score any worse, id hold off paying and dispute this with the md of the company , and its all sorted

morning, the charges are set by the police and the company that runs the police contract its nothing to do with the garage they are told what they can and cant charge for,
if the car is totalled and not worth you fixing to put back on the road, then i would just leave it at the recovery garage and just say its not worth the recovery charges then they will just crush it,if you wanted to be above board with them, just explain your situation and ask how much it will be to them to dispose of it for you.
