signum boot wont open

can anyone give me some help as my signum unlocks and locks but wont open the boot,i did read a post on this and they said use a screwdriver from the inside of the boot to release the lock.i did that to get the boot opened, it was making noises and would lock and unlock on its own but now it will do nothing............any help is welcome as i am at my witts end

When you unlocked the car did the boot at times then suddenly clunk and half open on the lock? If so then you need to look at this thread - http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24978

So I take it you've got the manual release slot on the inside of the tailgate? I ask as I was surprised if you had with it being an 05 mode. If you do though then you're in luck! Just open the boot again and then follow the details in that thread and you'll probbaly find it's the microswitch gummed up.

yes mate it was doing the clunking thing but now it dose nothing........my car is a 55 plate ,it must be one of the first facelift models as it has a few extras on the car that i have seen as my dad has a 06 one and his dosnt even have satnav or so called traction control but not to worry as this is the first prob that i have realy had appart from the dreaded springs breaking.

got the problem sorted, i went to my vauxhall dealer and bought a new boot switch which only cost £19. inc vat as the old micro switch had packed in,followed a link on how to clean the micro swich but replaced it instead. works perfect

and with the newer switch being redesigned and no longer having the captured ball-bearing, you hopefully shouldn't have the problem again.

just ordered new switch assembly and rubber cover, £17!
