Default Motability Increases Upfront payments on Insignia's

Just noticed that Motability have increased their up front payments for Higher Rate DLA recipients, and War Motabilty Supplement pensions from today.

Previously it was around £2400 upfront payment on the standard 1.8 petrol Insignia, that has now increased to £3,449, while the diesel is £4,949.
Having a joke arn't they. Even for people like myself who receive the Mobility War Pension Supplement its only about 1K less.

Do they seriously think many disabled people are going to stump up £4,949 pre-payment fee in order to have a Insignia, I think not.

For the diesel version, that means the total amount you pay over the 3 years contract including your upfront payment is £12,242 and you own nothing at the end. No doubt some who haven't done their sums may sign up, but I would be surprised if many do. Especially when you can pick up the 1.8 for less than 13k, and diesel 160 exclusiv's for well under 14k.
Just shows what a ripoff Motability are. They have stopped listing the Vectra on the scheme which was only £249 pre-payment.

Best deal for anyone thinking of going this direction for their next new car and wanting a decent car could do worse than the new Mondeo 2.0 Zetec, which only costs £1,450 up-front or only £578 for war pension recipients.
Certainly a better option finanially on the scheme than the Insignia, so it looks to me like VX will be losing an awful lot of sales from what is normally considered a very lucrative market for manufacturers. ( Motability Finance are by far the single largest purchaser of new cars in the UK)

In addition, when you take the DLA rises into account which come into affect on the 8th April, the 160 Insignia with the Pre-Payment of £4949 will cost the motability customer a total of £12,608.60 at todays rates.

Assuming similar DLA rate increases each April over year 2 and 3 will push the price well over 13k. You can buy it for another £800...lol

Default Motability Increases Upfront payments on Insignia's

    Hello all

The motobility scheme also includes servicing and replacement tyres from Kwik Fit, as well as insurance, road tax.

The VW Touran 1.9s/se looks good value at about £1200.

    Thanks

Best value car on Motability at the moment has to be the Volvo V70 2.0D SE @ just £999 advance payment. This has dropped from £1499 in March whilst the 2.0D R-Design which was also £1499 in March, is now £1799 .

The SE is the way to go.

Volvo prices are very keen when compared to VX, Ford and other mainstream manufacturers, only Citroen seem to come close. http://www.motabilityonline.com/site...criteriaChange

In what way..? Wife receives the Higher rate DLA, I receive the War Mobility Supplement Pension which is similar. Payments still going into accounts as normal. If your payment was a little late this week maybe it was due to all the increases in payments that take place this week.

Are you paid monthly. I and my wife have always received monthly payments direct into the bank. (no issues with late Payment)

Not much you can do but keep ringing Norbreck, Blackpool.

I finally got through to them, and have been informed that i will be payed monthly from now on, and they are 4 weeks in arrears so i have to wait til the 21st of April for my payment. It's bit of a pain but at least i know whats happened.
