after fitting my tuning box i would have thought i better fuel economy, but after checking today im getting 30.84mpg !!! and i have not been booting it either, most of the traveling i have done is in freeish flowing traffic with some slower moving traffic,i am not impressed,i do not expect to get this sort of fuel economy out of a 1.9 diesel,i used to get 38mpg out of my old audi 1.9 diesel and i used to not hang around, and it had a split turbo pipe

theres something wrong there mate, when i fitted mine i got a lot better fuel consumption..i suppose it does depend on which tuning box you got?
i never worked my mpg out properly but i now save about £30 a month on fuel since fitting the box....

Take it off and do the same calculation. See what the differences are then.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

i guess this is where all the other CDTI drivers come and say "i get 65 mpg , and I don't hang about" as per usual
But seriously, as another 1.9[150] driver, that is LOW. I have never had my mpg anywhere near that low, but most of my driving is out of town. I can imagine town drivers doing lots of very short trips will get ~30 mpg though.
Maybe try a few simple tune-ups yourself - EGR cleaning, boost sensor cleaning etc.

on a run i would average around 44-45mpg while doing 70mph,conparing the trip computer which before was 8% generous is now 18% generous i would say the economy is no difference,if anything slightly worse!! i have not taken it on a long journey yet

as for the tuning boxes giving extra mpg as the makers claim, it's carp imo.
I've used one a lot, and worked out the mpg with the box on - and it was about the same as without the box when driven slowly.
Booting it, the fuel economy was worse with the box on - of course. More power only comes from more fuel.

That's VERY low. I've averaged 36.6mpg over the last 7000 miles with my 1.8.

More BHP = More Speed = More Fuel, it's to be expected tbh, you've just become another victim of the fantasy fuel posters imagination, all you need to remember is if VX could make the car go faster and more economic at the sametime they would anyway, if it's a box I'd dump it pronto as all it's doing is helping things wear out quicker, and a CDTi needs no help in that department.
