Default New member saying hello and sorry another exhaust question

    Hi everyone,

New to the site so first id like to say hello, my names Steve and i have been following posts quietly for the last 3 to 4 weeks and i have found a wealth of valuable information.

This has contributed to my recent purchase of an 07 Vectra Elite 3.0 V6 CDTI which i am very, very happy with.

It has also contributed to a serious modding bug caught after viewing other members motors.

The car is pretty well equipped as standard, has sat nav, Bluetooth, sunroof, adaptive front headlights and 18" alloys.

In my first week i have purchased Irmsher mats, door pins, tax disk holder, anti theft dust caps, reversing sensors, mud flaps, SRI spoiler and a SRI back bumper which leads me to my first question?

The exhaust on my Vectra has two back boxes as standard, unfortunately as i am sure you will know on the Elite these turn down behind the back bumper.

I have to get these badboys out through the back so has anyone else on the club been faced with this dilemma and how have they got around it.

I have found on Ebay a twin outlet exhaust with rear diffuser for £385 but it is advertised as been suitable only for engines upto 2.2.

Sorry if this is a dump question but what would the differences/requirements be between an exhaust for a 2.2 engine and a 3.0l.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any help given.

    Cheers,

    steve0

Hi and welcome mate, youll like it here cos were all mad (apart from me)

Just a quick bit of useless info for you

If you fit anti theft dust caps,

    1. The WILL eventually get nicked
    2. Put a drop of copper ease over your valve threads, as the dust caps will sieze up on the valves and you might risk ripping your valve out when you try to put air in your tyres

Dont quote me on this before getting the angle grinder out. But I'm pretty sure someone on here has cut the end (bent down bits) off the standard exahust and welded tips to them. But I have no idea if this is possible myself.

I found out the hard way mate, fitted them on my Navara, tried to remove the dust cap with pliers as they were on solid, split the valve and nearly blew my face off

Cheap plastic all the way now
