B&Q hose attachment warning

I decided to swap my old and worn plastic HOSELOCK connectors for the Brass type that are B&Q's own brand, nice and shiny, look a lot better and wont fade in the sunlight

BIG MISTAKE

I bought a pressure washer this morning, and to try it out I washed the car. I connected the B&Q attachment onto the pressure washer, turned the water on, and look what it did to the pressure washer fitting

Luckily, as my old pressure washer was dead, I had the old fitting and swapped it onto the new washer. Ive replace the naff B&Q fittings with the old and worn HOSELOCK parts, and they work fine.

You should use brass with brass - both ends need to be the same. You can get all the various bits in brass if it takes your fancy...

Ah... you have found out the plastic and brass connectors dont interchange as well then.

I found out like you, when I did the same when connecting up water hoses to the caravan sites mains water when we first had our caravan. (sold it a while ago now) I too would have thought they would fit okay, but it seems not.

Plastic to Plastic or brass to brass but not mixed it seems.

Yeah I wasnt very happy to say the least

they never made a good enough water tight seal either

only combo would work would be a brass 'male' fitting into a plastic 'female' fitting

No they dont, and as you found, they ****** up the plastic fittings too, I must admit, I never knew there was any difference either, I bought the brass bits thinking they would be better quality and last longer.

A mate told me that the ball bearings can fall out if the frost gets near them aswell, not good for the price they cost
