    Default SXI front springs

    Hey guy's,

I've just taken my veccy c into my local vaux garage for a check-up, they spotted 2 broken front springs (among other things), what springs will I have on the car, the vaux sales guy said that they don't know what springs I will have on the car (sports sri/standard) as it's the SXI, they had to physically remove the springs from the car and look at a coloured tag to tell the difference between the
    two. . . .

My question first being, is this complete bo***cks to get me to give the car to them to do the work . . . or is there actual truth behind this?.

Secondly, does it matter which springs I put on the car to replace the broken ones, if they are the standard ones, I'd like the sports/sri springs fitted as there the same price.

    P.S, it's a pre facelift 53 plate sxi

    Thanks

    AL

I had a 53 plate SXI, and it had sports shocks, but standard springs, apparently though the SRi lowered springs are only an extra £5ish per corner

I've been looking at LMF, their price for a full set of lowering springs, (front and back) are the same price that vaux quoted me for just the front two, is it worth getting a set of 30mm lowering springs for the car or will it mess up the car?

    Looking at these,

Well obviously with new springs on, you will more than liekly need the tracking re-doing. But i cant really see a problem.

Only thing i would be thinking about is the shocks on the front, i.e. any difference in length, that could cause issues fitting smaller springs.

Aye When I get the springs done, my mechanic is doing the track rod ends , he's said it will need laser aligning after the work has been done, so I'm prepared for that one

Spoke to LMF this morning, they say there a direct fit/swap

Answer to your first question is that they are telling you the truth.

The springs have coloured paint on them, I have seen yellow on standard springs and green, green, white on sports springs, you should be able to see the paint on the spring usually on one of the coils, this paint tells you what spring you have.
