    Default Fault code B3901

Could anyone be so kind as to enlighten what fault code B3901 refers to?!?! Apparently it's to do with the "body control module".

Does anyone know what this is and why it would send my car into limp home mode as i was accelerating from 50 mph in fifth gear onto a dual carriageway?

    thanks

How did you come by this code, if V/X gave it to you via tech 2 ask them. I was not aware that you could decode the ECU yourself, if so please enlighten.

Don't worry...i'm not decoding the ECU myself, i took the car into the dealer because the car went into limp home mode but reset itself when i next started the car, but i wanted to see if a fault was logged which it was and the dealer reset the ECU. I had to prod them for an answer as to whether the fault was logged and then again to give the fault which they eventually did, saying it was B3901 which related to the Body Control Module.

mine didn't volunteer the info either, it's only after i asked the guy outright what the code was and what it related to did he go into the workshop and tell me. it's probably just a random code that he's picked off the top of his head.

i think i'm going to ring the dealer and ask to explain. why shouldn't they offer an explanation???

How does Wrong Environment Identifier Received sound?

    * The control unit receives a wrong Environment Identifier.

    Effect:
    * The current message and all following messages within 60s will be ignored.

Don't ask me what this means though...

    Not much but ..... :

Body Control Module The BCM controls much of the driver's interface with the vehicle. In many cars it operates the headlights and turn signals, and drives the speedometer and tachometer displays. Normally located either under the dash or under the hood attached to the firewall.
