    Default Wheel Bolts

    Hi Guys n Girls.

Just went to paint my rear calipers and the ****** locking nuts wont come off.... the wheel brace just keeps slipping off then the locking nut slips off..

The only way i got the front ones off last time was with a 4ft Scaffolding pole on the end of the brace and my old man holding the brace square to the nut...

So looking at getting another set of locking nuts....

What do you think to these....

and yes i will be paying the £5 for halfords to remove my olds ones!!!

The locking nuts are a complete pain in the ass!

Apparently the locking not should only be tightened by hand, and not torxed like the standard nuts. I got two of mine stuck on the front wheels, and snapped the locking nut in the process of removal. So i ordered another locking nut from VX, which cost about £35.

It was cheap ****, and snapped on the first turn. Had to get a bloke with a titanium socket set to get them off. Think he used 18mm barrell piece, but be warned its likely to cause damage to your alloys. He had to belt the **** out of it to get it to grip on.

Other than that you would need the lockin nuts drilled out, which is about £65 per corner, and again can cause damage to the alloy.

Once i did eventually have mine removed, they got thrown in the bin, never to be used again! Learn by your mistakes so to speak!

i had the same problem. its garages cutting corners and using a windy wrench to do the job. just take the car to your vaux garage and they should get them off for free with a windy wrench again. but they "only ever use a tourqe wrnch to put them on" lol. the vauxhall ones are usless, even the bloke said to go get some aftermarket ones as the vaux ones just round off so easily or this happens.they did mine for free and i just put normal nuts back in.its got to be a special kind of person that wants to steal a set of 16 inch standard vauxhall alloys!!!

then again you never know!!sods law states ill go outside and itll be on bricks tommorow

Be warned, i tried to get mine gunned off at a garage, and even they couldnt succeed.

Went to another garage and they wouldnt even touch it, for fear of shearing the locking nut!

All this thanks to the pillock who torxed the locking nuts.

What made me fume even more was the fact that i needed them off to do a tyre rotation!

I always request grease to be smeared on teh bolts before fitting now. Little trick I learnt from a mechanic. F1 Autocentres didnt seem too happy at first but obliged after asking each other
