I think I am starting to think the same thing, better to get the old girl checked out – just hate the inflated insurance costs to get the work done.

After a bad experiance, always go through insurance the guy could get nasty and refuse to pay then your stuck with the bill. Even if you have no intention to claim inform the insurance anyway so that they are aware of the incident so should the guy who you reversed in to phones his insurance up and makes a calim against you, your insurance doesn't just pay out and wipe out any NCD you may have built up.

Yes that does happen, a guy hit me said he would pay then phoned his insurance company and said I hit him. I wasnt too bothered company car but the insurance company were not happy that I hadn't told them of the bump in the first place.

If the guy wants to restore his no no claims then he can pay back his insurance company the cost of the repair to your car and it shouldn't affect his premium. (but probably will)

the fact you said you were a bit achey i would advise you to go through your insurance, whiplash starts as an ache,a few days later the pain can get very bad,you should get your necks checked if you think the ache is coming from this area.

    Go through the insurance mate.

    (a) it mean's you'll get a proper job done & insurance will chase if it's not.
    (b) people lie. Sad fact but what if (after deciding to settle privately) he reports you to his insurance & the police saying you selected the wrong gear & reversed in to him?

If he wants to sort it out & pay the bill through his insurance so his NCB isn't affected that's up to him.

This happened to me a few years back. Partner was overtaking a bus parked at a stop. Minicab driver in right hand side street turned left onto main road only looking right for traffic but didn't look left & didn't see us half way through overtaking. More-or-less head on collision.

It was all amicable at the time until we got a court summons through the post suing for loss of earnings & he'd plucked witnesses out of thin air (presumably his cabbie mates) saying it was our fault & he hadn't pulled out into our path. Insurance sorted it all out - even tracked down the bus driver & requested the police did him for attempting to defraud them.

Our insurance was COMPLETELY unaffected. His - stuffed and served him right for telling porkies. Took a long time though but every bit of court paperwork that arrived - the insurance said to not worry, not respond, just send it straight to them.

I can't read the other three pages, but get underneath the bumper and look for damage and check the boot corners inside the boot also.
