Default Blue Smoke from engine and a foul smell

I have a 55 plate SRi 2.2 Direct. The engine are now produces a foul smell (Burining Tar) and the garage originally put it down to shipping wax on the engine block burning off slowly. But with the bonnet up, a small strem of blue smoke can be seen comming up from the engine block as well as oil on the back of he block and oil on the ground - so its burning oil from a leak and not wax.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this ? cos for a car with 1500 miles on the odometer, I was surprised to see a leak of any sort

    Ta

Get it straight back to the dealer mate, sounds like a leaking gasket or manifold.

Take it straight back and inform the sales manager that you will give them the opportunity to fully repair the problems but if the car is returned to you in anything less than perfect operating condition you will return it with a solicitors letter rejecting the car. This should ensure the workshop boys get a kick up the 'arris. Totally unacceptable on a virtually brand new car.

Definately. Ive already had a "discreet" word about the state of the car, but the solicitors letter seems like a really good idea to put some fire steel into the threat.

I'll try that and let you know how I get on !!

I notice you're in Cramlington mate. Are you using Reg Vardy? If you're getting no joy from them there, try Davidsons in Morpeth, they are pretty good and I know them quite well, especially Frank the parts manager.

I'm up in Ashington (North Seaton), we'll have to have a mini meet

Unnnnfortunately ..... Davidsons is where the car is from - which is another big shocker to me. This is my third car from there and they have all been top notch both for quality and service. I know what you mean about Reg Vardy - they are the worst in the North East !!

What bugged me most was the assumption that it was wax on the engine block. Looking for myself now, it is really obvious where the error is. I'm no technician (But I am a quallified Mech Engineer)

Mini meets for me are difficult, I work in Cumbria durring the week and weekends are for family. We will have to arrange something in advance - like weeks !!!
