    Default Messed Up Fitting My Spoiler

    Fitting my wing spoiler today measured twice drilled the holes on with spoiler tighten up screws two were slightly out thought no problem just tighten a bit more and that's when it all went wrong one bolt on either side are half in won't go in won't come out just crossthreaded and stuck not happy anyone help

    lol, just have to persevere to remove it - then id file the hole slightly to re-align....and re-tap the origional nuts in the spoiler - hope this helps.
    only other alternative is to cut the one thats crossed and drill/tap or heli-coil it.....or leave it missing if the others will be enough to hold it

    Sorry to hear that m8 first off sit down & take five. Are the screws going into GF or is there an insert? A pair of grips to hold the screw while pulling away from the fitting would be all I can think of at a distance hth ............

    I know i could kick myself need to decide what to do now before the tiger seal sets, don't think it will fall off seems pretty tight but that said think i will cut off the damaged ones and do like you said

    Maybe get someone to pull the spoiler away from the tailgate, and you try to undo the cross threaded pins, the tension on the thread might alow you to get the threads to come apart. Then you will need new pins and to clean up the cross threading before you try again.

    It's an irmscher spoiler the nuts are moulded into the spoiler but being crossthreaded they are just turning in the spoiler

    For me if you have tiger seal make your mind up but not at the expense of ruining the job. If you decide to remove the spoiler do it now even if it's wedged clear as the sticky dries. ..........

    That's the thing i doubt it would fall off but it's not right so me thinks i will take it off as suggested and see if i can rescue the situation thanks for the help guys
