    Default O2 pay as you go sim question

    If you get one of these sim cards do you need to top it up before you can receive incoming calls?

    put one in my sons phone and not able to call it

    you need to activate the card b4 he can receive cals but you dont have to top up

    thanks Steven, we called the number on the top up type credt card that came with the sim but dont see any other options in the paperwork that came with the sim to do anything

    You do have to put credit on it. As soon as you do, it'll activate the card. To use the top up card though, you must first register the card to the phone, so that when you top up, o2 knows which number to apply the top up to

    Thanks Gary, I thought this might be the case but better ask before I waste a tenner if the phone is fooked!

    Doesn't matter if the phone is kaputt mate, the credit goes onto the SIM not the phone

    I bought a couple of 02 PAYG cards from the 99p shop the other day. I use 02 simplicity which entitles me to free 02 to 02 calls. Gave one to a mate who put it in his old phone. Worked straight out of the packaging, no activation required, nothing. Whenever we need a long chat I phone the 02 PAYG card which costs me nothing to call. I suspect in 6 months time it will need credit on it to keep it working. It will be cheaper though just to get another 02 PAYG sim.

    i got 02 sim cards free from o2 and they needed credit to be put on before the sim would work,you had to go to a shop not over the phone,but when i bought a o2 phone it was ready to make calls but it had no credit on it

    As far as I know you just buy 02 sim card put money on it and use it no need to call 02.

    o2 were doing a thing where you got extra credit if you got your credit over the phone using a debit card,but as the sim was not activated you cannot do this on the first time
