    Default VW Diagnostics

Guy's, heres a hit and hope.

My mate owns a Mk 4 VW Golf GTI V6, and he is looking to borrow some diagnostic tools to read the code's from his car as its throwing up a few lights, dont know which one's.

He knows I use this forum so asked me to try and find out if anyone has anything that he can borrow that will assist him with his dilema!

Also, does anyone know what interface he will need to connect to his car. I beleive the car is on a 2003/53.

    Worth a try!

    Thanks.

Does he have the usual OBD socket? Ie, the same as in your Vectra?

I can borrow a decent fault reader at work, am in South Coventry during the day....

There's VAG-COM, done by the same people who do Vaux-COM, which is a laptop based system almost as comprehensive as the dealer tools. I know he's not going to go and buy it for a one off but if he can find someone who has it then that'd do it - somewhere to start looking at least.

Is the car CanBus? If so then I'd expect any OBDII compliant reader that guys on here have used would work.
