    Default Portable DVD players-opinions?

I'm thinking of buying a portable DVD for the little 'un to watch on longer journeys.

I was put off the cheaper ones (that use velcro straps to wrap around the headrest) as these can break away and become a lethal missle at low speed collisions (Daily Mail did a story on them, scary!)

So this one with the more substantial bracket looks better:

Anyone got one or a similar one? Are they any good in general?

(it has to be portable as it will move from car to car occasionally!)

Just the one kid! (enough for me)

Cheers for the offer - is that the full headrest type that slots into the holes? I've seen those on various websites -the 'leather' grey ones looked like they would almost match my poverty-spec LS model!

How do they wire up then? Do they use the 12v socket in the back?

Let me know what the P&P would be?, sounds like a much safer option.

Or you could get some sort of solid-state player (like an ipod or similar) and rip all of your DVDs. Then you wouldn't have to carry the discs around.

Ripped DVDs at ipod screen size are pretty small files. But you can also rip them at a quality which will play back full screen on a TV (with suitable cables) and then they are about 1Gb per hour.

Hello Mate, Full leather headrest ( but its black ) with a built in 10" screen DVD, USD, SD Card , , yes its the ones that slot into the holes, i will take some pics and post on this thread as soon as i can

Needs a power supply which is supplied with it , i did have it wired into the front, and then ran the wires along the centre console, and up into the seat

Cheers for the very generous offer spenny, but believe it or not the Grandparents have offered (and actually bought!) one of the ones I mentioned from Halfords as an early birthday present for the little 'un!

I don't want to be greedy so will glady pass this over to kdadidog if thats OK?

Thanks again for the offer though - would have bitten your hand off if not for good old grandma and grandad!!
