    Default Removing gear knob ???

    Trying to remove my gearknob and after smashing and pulling it , it s still on How did people take theres off ???

    you will need some help from a mate,get them to hold the gear stick and get a hammer and bolster chisel and whack it upwards this worked for me

    Mine comes off by itself on hot days - maybe try heating it with something...

    If you had read into the subject you would have seen that it was BETTER LEFT ALONE.
    Tools used in the past, hacksaw, chesil, blowtorch, mole grips, club hammer, welding kit, two big mates and a whole load of aggro.

    I had a wooden one on my Alfa and used a saw to take it off.

    what i did was used a hacksaw to cut the old one off, then when there was just the aluminuim part left on the gear stick, i got a a small wood chesil and put it underneath and give it a whack with my hammer and it popped off, just have to be careful not to damage the lift up reverse collar. Took me about 20 mins and im not the most technically gifted person.

    All done now . Vx dealer fitted it for £19 quid which i thought was ****** good , and they had to hacksaw it off ...
