Default limp mode for no reason

I have been driving to work today and the car was on cruise control down the motorway and then all of a sudden limp mode kicked in and cruise control was turned off i have no spanner light or any other dash light coming on. when i was stuck in traffic i turned the engine off and restarted the car and limp mode went away for about 10 miles and the came back again for what seems no reason the car is a 54 plate 2.0 DTi has anyone any ideas what it could be

All the usual suspect,s for this one mate .Check all your hoses for splits , check your vacuum hose connectors for perishing/cracks , clean your boost sensor or clean the egr valve , all very common faults with the dti engine, plenty of threads on here with how 2 s to show you what needs doing

You have limp mode but no fault light? It will be for a reason, do what Bob has suggested and if that doesn't help then its time to get the codes read
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction
P0105 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction

Could be the MAF and/or map sensor. Although it maybe something else giving those faults to trigger those codes.

Check your connectors on the actuattors for splits or being loose failing that have a look at mike 1986,s thread now on new posts for some guidance on checking the actuattors themselves.
