Default BP Ultimate Diesel vs Morrison's mucky Diesel

I know there are similar threads around but I decided I wanted to try this out for myself and so documenting it here wouldn't do any harm.

    2006 Vectra Facelift 1.9 CDTi 150
    Starting Milegae: 45001

I had pretty much been using any standard diesel just depending on where I was when I needed fuel. A few day ago I ran my tank down until range was showing about 16 miles. I then put £10 of BP ultimate in it as a sort of flush out of most of the standard diesel. Today being payday, I have filled my tank to the second click with BP Ultimate.

I intend to run for the entire of April on BP ultimate, then I will spend a week transitioning over to Morrisons diesel and run that for a full month.

Before starting this, my onboard computer was showing average mileage of 48.7mpg. I have no intention of changing my driving style so this is all about the fuel. I drive with work so cover about 2000-3000 a month depending on where I'm sent.

I'll note computer numbers and also calculations from miles vs gallons pumped into the car when I fill.

Any comments/tips welcome. I'll edit this first post with details of how it's going whenever I fill up.

    Cheers.

    Why mate..?

The better fuels will be working better internally, maybe showing some differences to running or mpg - but the real difference you can't measure.

I have noticed that mine seems to be running far smoother and is more economical after 2 1/2 tanks of V Power diesel.
Will carry on with it for another couple of tanks to see if there are any other improvements

It's never going to be a perfectly scientific test as things like the temperature when you filled and the weather will make a difference. Tyre wear, pressures and things may change and make a difference. Good luck with it though fella and it will be interesting to see the results.

yeah, I'm not looking to get into National Geographic

I'm looking for real world results, do I notice a difference in running/smoke/mpg etc and if so what were they?

I figure by doing it over a month, several tanks and a couple of thousand miles that it should average out a bit.
