Fault Code

I just found my scribble from the other day when the car went into limp home mode the code was:

P0234


Could someone be kind and have a look in their wee book as to what the code is, the mechanic told me something to do with boosting, car hasnt gone into limp home mode for a few days and I checked the pipes and found no splits. Car is going in just after easter but I'd rather try and find the fault then pay someone god know how much to find it.

P0234 Engine Overboost Condition

Could be the sensor or the actuator if yours is actually a turbo of some sort.

thanks mate, I did a search on P0234 and read quite a few posts where the ECU sofware required upgrading is this true?

If so what is the current version and could I ring my loack dealer and find out what version Im running?

It may help, but I would imagine they would need to plug the tech 2 in to find out. If its got a full vx history then it maybe running the latest software as my local one usually updates as a matter of course.

3rd pic down it shows 4 bolts to remove, is that the turbo, whats would I find in there?

That looks like the "throttle body" not sure whats in there tbh on the dti. Sorry Tony. I think the turbo on the 2.0 and 2.2dti is down the back of the engine, under that round silver thing in the first pic.

ok thanks, the P0234 seems to be a common problem on the DTI I cleaned the EGR valve few weeks previous just hope its not related to that
