Default Radiator died and Drove an Astra SRI (150)

    Hi Guys,

Had some bad luck over the last few days, my radiator self destructed on the way to work, the left had side cap thingy came off causing the radiator to split along the bottom, the nice AA man called it a "Friday afternoon radiator", very apt. Anyway got recovered into my local Vauxhall garage and was given a 150 SRI Astra as a loaner, what a horrible little car. The traction control seemed permanently on, I got my kids buggy stuck in the boot because of the stupidly small entrance way, it used fuel like it was going out of fashion, the ride was way to hard and the steering wheel didnít seem to be attached to the wheels!

And to add insult to injury I got stuck with it for 4 days as thatís how long the garage took to swap a radiator. A 1.5hrs job I have been told. Needless to say I am getting my first service FOC, it always pays to complain!!!

Sorry to hear of your troubles mate

I used to have the sri astra G and thought the suspention set up was excellent. I took the H sri 150 out for a test drive just before i bought the vec and thought it was superb, loved the way it handled and it pulled very well. The boot is laughable small when you compare it to the vec but if you dont have any kids or play golf it would be ideal. I needed the extra space so the vec won me over hands down TBH

I had a Sport and thought the suspension and handling were awesome compared to a lot of other models I had driven.

I've driven the new SRi astra, and thought the suspension was fine but it was let down by the responsiveness of the steering.

Suspension on the Astra is a bit "you like it or you don't".

Mine's OK - nothing special, but it goes round corners well.

black-sri, you do know by holding the Sport switch for a few seconds turns off the traction control?

On my old Astra G hatch I managed to squeeze in a fully grown Labrador, he was a big 'un too, and all the luggage for a weeks holiday for two people without any troubles. Had to use back seats though - would need the roof rack to come with a child seat adaptor for Mini-oilburner now though?!
