Tickover

Hi
I have a 53 plate 3.2 GSi bought from Vauxhall with Network Q warranty.

I need some help, if I am sitting the car with it on tickover not moving the car judders, and the revs change very slightly. The car is actually making me feel seasick, it happens if the air-con/heating are on or not.
I took the car back to vauxhall and they tested it and said they could feel it aswell, but they did not have a clue what is was, the sales manager said he thought it happened to his, but as they did not have a gsi in stock they could not test it. They said they will try and get one from Vauxhall main stock.
If anyone has a 3.2 and your car does not do this could you please contact me, or if you have had yours corrected please contact me so that I can tell Steve Thomson Cars in Lichfield what the problem may be.

Is it an automatic?

Does the rev counter bounce up by 200 rpm and settle again?

If the answer is yes, they should know how to fix it, if it was my car the 1st things i would do is this.

1 - Fuel Inj cleaner in tank, dirty Inj
2 - Oil change including a flush, sticky valve
3 - Check all rubber hoses for holes etc, Air Leak, can be hard to trace.
4 - Clean EGR valve

If none of that fixes it, my guess would be

1 - Oxygen sensor
2 - Camshaft sensor, int fault
3 - Airflow meter, common fault
4 - Crankshaft sensor, at an outside chance.

Does sound like an air/idle fault.

Other than that you got serious trouble ahead finding it.

If I've read it wrong and what you mean is that it's an auto and while you sit at lights the car seems to release the brakes a millisecond causing the judder, and thus will alter the revs due to you not giving it any gas at the time, does it do it everytime?

Christ another edit, if it is auto, I think, not sure, but isn't there a clutch to take it out of gear if you are standing too long?

If it's manual it could be a clutch thing again, slightly disengaging causing the car to lurch a bit, try holding the brake pedal down at the sametime and see what happens.

I have a 3.2 GSI and it is the same the rev counter douse not move up and down you just get a slight judder and shake when it is ticking over.
Took it back to Vauxhall and they said they could not find any thing wrong with it.
It has only done 14000 miles.

Try turning the climate control to economy mode as the revs will rise and fall as the air-con compressor clutch engages and dis-engages see if this makes a difference if it stops there is no problem with the car HTH

Hi thanks for the replies, the car is a manual, and i currently have the car set to economy mode.
Vauxhall had it for 2 days and could not find the fault,
could rugrat please contact me re what vauxhall said to him and what they aim to do.

Vauxhall have agreed to work on the engine, as it does have a problem, they tested it alongside another 3.2 gsi and mine does have a judder. They did note that my car was ticking over at 625 rpm and the other was 850 so maybe they have found the problem, but anyway it goes in after the bank holiday.

I too mate am experincing this problem with my GSi 2004 53 plate. It drives me nuts. I have also noticed that when i rev the car, as it comes back to idle again it judders quite bad. I would have thought it should be really smooth. I too have been told by my local dealer that this is normal, but i'm not having it. Car has been booked in for 2days next monday. A local company called Auto Diagnostic solutions reckon they could find the problem for me, with a report that i could take to vauxhall, but i have a warrnanty with vaux so i don't see why i should shell out my own money.
