need help with part identity!!

while i was cleaning the car and engine bay today i noticed a part just behind the inlet manifold ( cdti 150 ) and in front of the diesel filter there was some oil/diesel on the top of this part and it had a peice of hose atached to a approx 21 mm pipe going into it this could be lifted out without much force please help as im not sure what it is or if i should be able to pull it out!!!!! thanks

my guess would be it's the flux capacitor

Think it's a breather pipe. The clips VX use are cack. Replace it with a Real jubilee clip.
