    Default New Drivers

    Hey Guys,

This is really a question for the those of you who have driven the Insignia.

Assuming a bank would be foolish enough to finance me , in your opinions, do you think the insiginia is a suitable car for a new driver?

I realise the insurance would be stupidly high, but there simply isnt any other car I currently like the look of both internally and externally.. well thats a lie, I Do like the photos of the Astra mk6 that I have seen as it does look like the insignias little bother, but thats not out until 2010 .

    I thank you in advance.

I don't dislike the current Astras, but they just don't look as appealing as the Insignia or the future mk6.

oh, and I also seem to have a fascination with the technical Grey colour, guess I'm just weird :P

I think the Insignia looks stunning in Technical Grey, i've ordered one in Tech Grey anyway. Can't see why it's not suitable for a new driver, when i first passed my test, be it nearly 43 years ago, i was let loose in a 3.4 MK3 Jag it was my dads of course, the only problem with it was that i had to put my on petrol in.
    lol

cheers for the responses guys much appreciated, I guess my next question is about the 4x4 option.

Will a car of that size and weight need 4x4 or is it just a fancy extra with minimal effect on normal day to day driving?

I was looking at the petrol SE version of the car, and have been saving my pennies, but when it comes down to practicality and what I actually 'really' need, it is useful to cut the cost and reduce the amount I would need to take a loan out for.

I know a lot of it comes down to personal preference, but I am going on the assumption that 4x4 isnt that important as you can buy the car without it.

    Depends on
    (a) which engine you for. If you're going for the monster turbo petrol I'd guess the 4WD is going to be useful getting the power from the engine to the road.

    (b) where you live. Out in the wilds where you get more ice & snow & no gritters it could come in useful once in a while.
