    Default undertray

I noticed in some pics here that there seems to be a plastic under-tray under the engine. My car does not have this. It does have a metal guard running under the engine.

Did the vectra's come with both? Or was the plastic one substituted with the metal one considering the road conditions of this market?

I was struggling with keeping the engine compartment clean and was wondering if I should buy the plastic tray and whether it would fit over/around the metal guard.

I believe it's only on diesel engines. The reason there is a noise test when the car is at a certain speed. The undertray keeps the noise "in" so it passes the test. Its not there to keep the engine clean. You probably have the metal guard as its cheaper to make the all vectra bits the same rather than changing for each model, engine type.

you have the bad road package for use in conditions where the roads are bad,not a common package here in the uk,i did sell a bad road package to a customer with a corsa as he went down farm roads a lot and had problems with the sump hitting rutts

i've borrowed a pic from Plasma's post to show the parts. I've marked 2. The lower one goes between the bumper and the wheel arch shield and the part behind the wheel covers some of the opening between the wheel well and the engine compartment.

This second part exists on the drivers side on my car, though it is missing from the left (pass) side. the bottom parts are missing on both sides.

Were these parts on all cars or only on some? Right now I have mud splashing up towards the back of the headlights -- since those bottom side pieces are missing and the gearbox is also getting covered in much as the piece in the wheel well is missing.

I'd like to replace before next monsoon...

So -- were these only on Diesels? What are these called?

    Cheers!

the lower one you have marked would be on all models, the upper one i think is only od diesels as the lower fixing fixes to the undertray,if you look on the right side of the car you will have one there though as this covers the alternator belt and pulley

Thanks!! I will try to locate those lower parts. Will even try to get that other part and see if I can get it to work. Any idea what these parts are called -- or numbers?

Unfortunately, the vectra was sold here only for a couple of years and Opel closed up shop in 2004 (converted to Chevy). So, trying the dealer here is a pain in the rear.

On my old 2004 DTi the undertray was made of some sort of fibreboard, and if you weren't careful it would drop and rip, 160 notes to replace it.
