The annoying squeak could be a warped disc, are they worn? or have you levered pads back using the disc as a leverage point?

Did you change the front pads for OE ones or a cheaper version?

I had a similar problem a few years ago on a primera turned out that disc had a small lip which was touching the pads when they had released. Filed off lip and noise disappeared. Hope this helps

i had a prob like that when i had my omega they squeeked when i took my foot of brake the cause was the pads expanding with the heat i got the grinder out and ground the edge of the disc's to a curve.
    i worked a treat.

    replace discs

I think Yorkie means he chamfered the edge from the pads so the edge no longer met the groove lip of the disc.

Before you replace anything though, try to pinpoint which wheel its coming from, then jack the car up and spin the disc, see if it's out of true or the pad surface is rubbing the lip around the disc, if you've done more than 50k they will need replacing anyway, maybe not for an MOT, but for max effectiveness when stopping.
