    Default 1.9cdti Poor fuel consumption

    Hi,

is there any common problems that would cause a 1.9cdti to have poor fuel consumption. My old man has a 07 plate with 30,000 miles and it appears to only be returning around 400 to the tank and that is sensible driving mostly town stuff.

Change the Vx filter for a K&N panel jobby. Makes a world of difference. Also, use decent quality fuel, such as Vpower or BP ultimate. Works a treat.

Just done Essex and back on less than a tank of fuel!

I would say that is about right 400 to a tank around town. That equates to 30mpg around town. I really think that is about right. The only other way to tell is to fill up and go for a long drive on the motorway and then refill up again and recalculate. At least then you will know if their is any abnormalities.

I would tend to agree. I get almost 600 miles per tank but that is a quick 16 mile motorway journey very early in the morning (when motorway is quiet) and a stop start journey back home at night.
