Default Estate - want to install parking sensors in rear BUMPER

As per the thread title, I wish to install parking sensors in the rear bumper of my Vectra estate. However, in every thread I have found, people seem to have only installed them in the grey plastic "valance" thing below the bumper.

Has anyone actually installed parking sensors in the bumper of an estate?
If so, how big a job is it, and can you offer any advice to someone who has not attempted such a job before?

    Thanks in advance.

I think the Estate and Signum share the same (or have a very similar rear bumper), It might help you out if you do a search on here for fitting rear sensors on a signum..

I bought a set on ebay (See the how to for Front Parking sensors) they are small enough to fit between the bumper bar and the bumper on the Signum.

BUT... Just to make sure you do have room, I used some Play Doe, rolled it into a ball, pushed it on to where the sensors were marked on the bumper and re-fitted the bumper. Gave it a push around etc, then took it off again. I then measured the size of the lump of play doe to the size of the sensors to make sure I had clearence.

There should be marks for holes on the rear bumper for drilling...4 in all.

I've dug up quite a few posts on installing the sensors in the valance below the bumper. However, I would prefer to have them in the bumper itself.

Yes but there are no markings in the bumper itself on the estate, as its ment to be in the lower valance on the estate.

Had to put mine in the rear valance as there wasn't enough room between the bumper and the crash bar. Took about hour and a half. I'll post a pic later.

Default Parking sensor not too low when installed in valance (estate)?

I've seen several posts saying the sensors need to be 50 cm high. The valance is much lower than that. Can someone assure me (that is, someone who installed it in the valance) that the height is OK?

Also, are the drill marks on the valance too?

    Thanks!
