    Default NAT settings

My sons 360 was returned this evening after having the motherboard and DVD drive replaced under warantee

got it set up after an hour of pulling my hair out, it keeps saying that there is a problem with connecting to XBOX LIVE

    its connecting fine though

just the NAT settings are moderate and it wants them open

ive logged into the router page, but find nothing there of any help

any ideas how to adjust them on the console itself??

As far as im aware the NAT setting is all to do with your router, your xbox will just tell you the setting.

The router page that you've looked at, is it the xbox trouble shooter??

Did you enter the connection settings manually or is it set to automatic? I've come across quite a few people who have similar problems, If entered manually try it on auto..
I take it you've been to the network settings on the My Xbox tab and done the connection test? and got the all green connection status along the bottom IE:
    Xbox 360 >>>> Network >>>> Internet >>>> XBOX LIVE

If you have moderate NAT or strict NAT when doing the Xbox LIVE connection test it will automatically tell you if it is moderate or strict, If NAT is open it wont tell you anything..

If the above connection test is ok the you could try this LINK

I have my 360's forwarded to xbox live Via the BT home hub and they seem ok

Try THIS site if your still having trouble. Its a great site and the guy who runs it Gamertag "Shadowman" will help you out if you can get hold of him.

But if you are stuck with a strict moderate NAT it will really mess up your gaming. Portforwarding is pretty easy although seems complicated it is'nt

THIS site has all you need to know for portforwarding just find your router then which service you want to use and it will tell you how. Its step by step.
