    Default Creaking sound..

    Hi guys

Just had my MOT done on a vectra c 2.0 dti 04 plate. The MOT passed however i was given some advisory items on the advisory notice. I understand a couple but not sure about some. they are as follows..

    - Nearby front anti-roll bar linkage has slight play in a ball joint

I assume this means the anti roll bar as in drop link needs replacing?

    - Near rear upper suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush

    - Offside rear upper suspension arm has slight play in pin/bush

Is this the drop link again ?

Also at the front left there was a creaking sound whenever i went over speed bumps or driven 60 mph on a country road where the road isnt always on the same level. That didnt affect the MOT but i brought to his attention, i was told its probably is the top suspention bearing????

Personally having read up around the subject i think it is the radiator mounts, but im not sure where these are located.. Can someone tell me where these are? i did look in the haynes manual but couldnt find anything about it. Incidentally im serprised they make the haynes manaul black and white, i mean wouldnt it make it much easier if it was in colour!!

any i hope somone can help me out

    Thanks in advanced!

    Howdo mate...

    with regards to:

    - Nearby front anti-roll bar linkage has slight play in a ball joint
I assume this means the anti roll bar as in drop link needs replacing?
Deffo sounds like a drop link, change both sides they are only £10ish each

    - Near rear upper suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush
    - Offside rear upper suspension arm has slight play in pin/bush
Sounds like the very common rear upper control arms, about £35 ish each from a good motor factors.

You may well find the creaking is the Anti Roll bar bushes on the front. I would get them replaced at the same time as the drop link, not too expensive IIRC.

    Thanks for the replies guys

I might just do the drop links and ARB bushes myself since i got the haynes manual and this wonderfull site, and a box of tools!

As goes for the front radiator mounts.. are they located on both ends on top of the radiator, they kind of springy if that makes any sence?

    Hi Guys,

I managed to find the radiator mounts, sprayed some WD40, at first the crunching creaking sound remained so i was back to square one, but to my serprise after 2 days the sound had vanished !!

I had that annoying sound for OVER HALF A YEAR! and a spray of WD40 and no more noise, Its been all good for over a week!

I end up driving over bumps faster just to "test" and see if it makes a noise lol, ill have to stop that otherwise ill end up with some other noise!

So if anyone's having problems with a crunching, creaking, grinding or wotever noise, its worth spraying WD40 on the radiator mounts
