    Default Door Mirror

I have to replace the electric door mirror on my daughters '54 plate Veccy.
I have been through the 'How to' section and have a query, how does the inner plastic triangular fillet where the mirror screw are come off. Does the whole door card have to come off.

    Many thanks
    EJJ

There are 2 clips on these, one upper and one lower below the door trim. You can remove it without removing the door card, but refitting is a tad tricky, you have to slide it back down and over the clip. Also theres a clip from the wiring loom onto it too.

    Default Door mirror

Plasma, Thanks for info, soon as when item arrives I will attempt.

She was hit a glancing blow on the mirror in a narrow lane by ome idiot going to fast , she had stopped to let him past and he carried on past at speed.

Then she tells me on Sun she is going away today, tried to get her to chase up replacement last Thurs, but it was " No I'll talk to Shaun and get him to get one" tame mechanic all he could say on Mon was try Main Dealer.

Managed to get used from Ebay, guaranteed to fit '54 plate.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Default Door Mirror

Found I could dismantle the mirror and only replace the damaged parts.
This was mainly the black plastic 'mirror surround' as the rest was OK.

Had to warm up plastic lugs to remove surrounds from both mirrors, and using blowtorch to heat 6" nail in mole grips used this to reform the rivets on the replaced part.

Original mirror back clipped back on OK as there was no damage to fitting clips.

Took about 1 hour, including 'thinking time'.

Daughter is well chuffed, especially as I washed her car as well.
