Default 3.0 Cdti Timing Belt Kit at least £250!!!!!

    Hi Guys,

I'm getting ready for Cambelt time. Got a fairly trusted VX mech on the hook. He says that the kit alone is at least £250! Perhaps you peeps can suggest a place to get one? LMF don't seem to have one on their site?

On the plus side VX list this job as 1 1/2 hours on the 3.0 according to the mech.

Is that a part only price or fully inclusive
I reckon the part (cambelt and rollers) would be no more than £80 from a VX dealers Parts Department

Have you even called a vx dealer for a parts only price? Also saab, renualt and izuzu use this engine, so give them a call too
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

There is loads of rollers on a V6 CDTI unlike a 1.9 just one. That is where the cost is incured. I think up to 2 rolller one tensioner and belt retail £284. This is stealer price . So he is about right. I do not know if there is any aftermarket kits for this car.

I also had a quote last week from the stealers as I'm coming up to 110k. Had it replaced at 35k on warranty so want it done early.

    Part # 93196790 Timing Belt kit(with rollers) £234.00
Labour charges; Toothed Belt replace £81.20
Replace toothed belt roller guide roller £11.60
Replace Toothed belt tensioner roller £11.60

    Total Labour £104.40
    Total Parts £234.00
    Nett £338.40
    VAT £50.76
    Gross £389.16

And it needs a major service and it's due it's first MOT. Not much change from £600 then.

Don't know about trade prices, I just asked for a quote and that is what I was given, assumed it was the same for everyone.

if you can find one do not fit a pattern belt on the 3.0 v6 as the genuine belt is fat superior to any pattern belt, like the saying you pay for what you get and in this case it is true, and you will need to get the belt sooner than with a genuine belt so in the long term it will not be any cheaper
