Default Got my first vectra but have teething problems!

    Hi,

Recieved my first vectra a few months ago, a 1.8 SXI 2004 (53 plate). Brilliant car but am having some little problems!

    1) Central Locking - Already bumped a thread regarding this but thought i'd add it in this thread anyway. My main key unlocks the drivers door from quite a distance very happily but will only open all the doors (i.e the second press) only if i am close to the car OR if i wait 5-10seconds. Tried new battery reading 3.3v with no difference. Any opinions?

    2) Spare Key Not Working - Tried it the other day to see if the same central locking problem occured, but instead the key wouldnt even open the doors! Changed the battery and same problem. I also tried to resync but opening the door and placing key in ignition but yet again nothing happened. LED lights up perfectly BUT I can't actually see the transponder chip in the key? My understanding is the chip should be in the keyblade portion when seperated, but theres nothing there in that indent, and more surprisingly, theres also nothing there in my main key which works perfectly! Any ideas on where it is, or how to get the spare working would be appreciated!

    3) Both front windows are very intermittant. I believe this is caused by the switches, and im guessing I will need to clean all 3 switches. Any tips on removing them? I take it battery does not need to be disconnected?

    Many thanks in advance!

    1) if you read the owners manual or do a search on here, there is a way of changing this setting by holding down the lock button the remote and the door button inside the vectra until you hear a beep. It will then open all doors on first press.

glad your enjoying your new motor.

    1. As Knoxvillian says above, One press of the button should open the drivers door and a second press should open all doors. Unless you program it to open all on one press.

    2. A dealer should be able to sort out your spare key. Has it stopped working or has it never worked? May have been supplied with the wrong one or might need reprogramming with Tech2 to the car?

    3. Have a little search around on here, I believe people have removed the switches and taken them apart and cleaned with electri-clean stuff to solve that issue.

I found that there is no need to dismantle the window control switches as most contact cleaners come with a thin tube that can be aimed into the switch body and then give it a good dose, this cleared my intermitten working problem.

If the key won't even open the doors, then it sounds like it is completely the wrong key
You really should have checked this before accepting the car!
Take this key back to the salesperson, advise them you've never used it, but you recently had to and couldn't even get in to the car

    Thanks everyone!

    1) Basically my car is half-canbus with buttons on steering wheel (?) so i don't think I can set it to open all the doors with one button press. I did find the thread regarding this and tried it, but it didnt work in my car. Finding it odd how the second press only works when very near or if i wait 5-10seconds after my first press, even though I changed the battery! LED on key lights up perfectly everytime i press a button.

    2) Sorry for confusion. I meant the key DOES have the correct blade, and will open the door with the key but sets off the alarm, however it will not open the doors remotely using the buttons on the fob. I place the key in the ignition which i believe should re-sync it but the alarm carries on and the car stays immobilised. Bit confused because I cannot see any transponder in the keyblade portion of the key, but even more odd I couldn't even find it in my main key which works! I'm almost 100% positive it was working perfectly however when I purchased the car.

    3) Thanks! Just to confirm, can i spray the stuff while the battery is still connected? Don't want any shorting!

    Thanks again fellas.

Well regards to problem 3), I cleaned up the switches and they are both working great now, but for some reason, when I hold the close button on the fob, the drivers window still doesnt automatically come up whereas the passangers does?

Still confused with problem 1) and 2)!

Think you may have to re-calibrate the drivers window.
Press up on the door window switch till the window is all the way up and hold it for about 5 secs. Then test to make sure the one touch function is working and try again with the key.
    HTH.
