Default So Long and Thanks For All The Fish

OK - I know it's 12 weeks away but, I've decided to start spending the kids inheritance.

I have ordered an Insignia 2L diesel 160PS Exclusive with 18" alloys and fog lights upgrade in the new "black" - Glacier white. ( I considered the satnav version but who on earth pays £900 for a satnav?)

I'm trading in my 54 2.2 direct petrol Signum Elegance with 37k on the clock- but if I can sell it private before then, then all the better.

So thanks to all those that have helped, advised and sourced stuff and answers for me. I just hope the new Insignia forums end up as good as these.

The feeling of ordering a new is a good one! The waiting for it to arrive is not so good..
But no need to leave, there is an Insignia section on here now..

Good luck with the new motor when it arrives, how comes you've gone for a diesel this time? ....

Not for economy but performance - I reckon break even is around 25-30k per year for smokies now - but re-sale value apparently is better too. I don't do many miles a year now, so the extra price per L is not too much of an issue.

I drove the 1.8 petrol and it was poor compared with mine. I drove the 130PS diesel and it "seemed" about as good as mine - it had good acceleration and it has lots of torques apparently. I was also thinking of getting it tuned - when I came to an arrangement with the dealer to do a deal on the 160 (it's only 250 ish more anyway) which apparently has even more torques!

I did once have a C250 Turbodiesel Merc that I really liked and it had a cracking engine note being a 5 pot, It was on an old R plate (R305 FDT)

PS Spoons - we all wish we could afford a VX...

I have, it ain't all that, especially when it turns out to be a lemon, I find it more gratifying to walk off with a 20k for 10k cos it's 9 mths old now tbh.
