    Default symbol in dash display

Could someone check their manual for me please, needs to be for pre-face (03 GSi). I have filed my manual somewhere safe and its only new owners manuals on the vaux site.

I’m getting the symbol below when I turn the engine off (does not appear during start-up or when running).

    Many TAs

Forgot to say - Checked Brake Fluid level and all pads and everything is fine

This is what the book says.
    Brake system control indicator.
The control indicator lights when the ignition is swithched on, if the handbrake is applied or it the brake fluid or clutch fluid level is too low.

    Thanks Ed/Baz,

I saw that in the new manuals but it was a different symbol (solid line outside rather than broken).

I will try with the handbrake off

just tried stopping the engine hanbreak off and symbol still comes on (and the level of the brake fluid is spot on). I guess the level sensor could be u/s - one for when it stops raining.

Ed, is there a separate clutch fluid top-up bottle

check the wear indicators to see if there damaged or worn if the pads are ok. had the same sort of thing with my golf the wear indicators had worn but still had plenty of material on the pad.
