Default Looking to get a 3.0cdti

    Hello all,
I'm really interested in getting a vectra 3.0cdti, have between 4-5k to spend, i've seen some for 4k 54plate but with 90k miles, what common problems will there be with these? i know the cam belt should of been changed but anything else i should look out for?

    Cam belt
    Waterpump
    Service History
Suspension - Coil springs can snap

I've loved every minute of owning my 3.0 but definately look closely as the above things can be VERY expensive if they go wrong!

Blimey, if you want a 2004 3.0 V6 CDTI with 90K miles for £4K, then you can have mine...
2005 3.0 V6 CDTI SRi with 80K miles and full VX history

Seriously though, you should be able to get a good one for between £3K and £4K

If you do find one, with the ignition key out press the odometer and see if the distance to next service is displayed
It should be anywhere between 31000 and 2000, and should match the service history and gap to next service
If nothing displays then the car is not on ECO Flex servicing

In my own experience the only major issue were the rear suspension bushes beng replaced at 45K miles
Some minor issues with indicators and traction control lights, but this was corrected with a new Steering Angle sensor and CIM module

Tyres should last you up to 20K miles, swapping rear to front as they wear
If you leave them on the front then expect between 5K and 10K miles

Front brake pads have a life of about 20K miles, rear brake pads at about 30K miles
Front brake discs should last to three sets of brake pads, the rears to just one

Finally, use only GM specification 5W-30 oil, unless you plan to lower the service intervals to 10K miles which I would recommend anway
I already plan to do this once the warranty on my car runs out in November, but I will still be using 5W-30 oil

    What's wrong with the cambelt?
This is an Isuzu engine, unlike the GM engines, and is pretty much bomb proof
In any other GM engine I would recommend lowering the cambelt renewal to 40K miles, but even on the Isuzu forums there are very few (if any) reports of issues or concern over premature failure of cambelts

    Waterpump
Never heard of this one on the 3.0 V6 CDTI
Again, if it was a GM engine then I would recommend renewing at cambelt change
As I understand it the waterpump is not driven off the cambelt on this engine

    Suspension springs
I have to agree there are increasing reports over premature failure of these on Vectra C and Signum models
    Does anyone know why?
Equally, there seem to be fewer reports of such issues on the models with sports suspension setup
