    Default 30cdti engine noise

    hi guys i have a 30cdti when stationery and u rev the engine the engine has a harsh noise coming from the engine some wear no power loss and no warning lights the car was ok sent it for mot and came back with the noise never noticed it before mot . any suggestions mant thanks

    It may be the egr oscillating. Or may be the dual mass flywheel starting to give up .

    its done 43.000 full vx service history and wat ever it neads it gets it also gets oil changed every 10.000 even though it does not nead it it sounds like it is over boosting but no warnings or stored errors it seems to muck about at lower speeds if ur above the speed limit on a private road ect its ok but if u sit at 50mph it starts too pull back then engine kicks back then its ok for a couple of miles then it does it again with no warning lights ect ive booked it in to stealers for tuesday to c what they come up with

    Mine's developed a weird diesel clatter when I accelerate from about 1300rpm. It disappeares at about 1600rpm...
    Could it be that the valves need to be readjusted?

    50mph assuming in 6th gear is just below the turbo activation
    Are you able to replicate this at other low rev speeds, such as 40mph in 5th gear, 30mph in 4th gear, and so on
    When you are at these speeds is there any black smoke given off (have someone drive behind if required)?

    it smokes on hard excelloration it does not seam to like slow speeds and the torbo seams to be in at low speeds and there is a turbo whistle if u rev the car stationary but the turbo is working it pulls well it seams to smoke heavy on excellorating not just a puff of smoke its continuos smoke till u stop excellorating

    A small amount of smoke at standstill with hard revs is normal
    However, smoke at revs in normal use is not
    This suggests the EGR pipe on the turbo may be near to failure or already has
    This is also usually joined by a wooshing noise between 2000 and 2500 rpm (it sounds like rushing water)

    Our 2.2DTi Auto does that!!!
    I'm going to check the pipe coming from the EGR tomorrow.

    hi in what way does it fail and is it a metal pipe or plastic or rubber when it fails what does it do or not do meaning does it stop turbo operation or incorrect air flow or fueling faults on reving it sounds like its got a dump valve fitted so does that mean it looses pressure or some thing
