    Default Any one driven a 3.2 and a 2.8T?

How better is the 2.8T compared to the 3.2, if at all?

I was just wondering how different they felt to drive, pull, sound, fuel etc... Pro's and Con's.

Not fussed about the cosmetic body spec, just the engine.

    I drove a 3.2 in work, and test drove a 2.8 privately.
IMHO, the 2.8 is a better engine, more responsive, torquey and sounds nice.
Then agan, the 3.2 is no slouch either.
Horses for courses really, but the more modern 2.8 would be my choice!

to drive normally theres nothing between them they both go like the clappers return roughly the same MPG but the 2.8 has more of a pull under hard acceleration and the turbo sound.

the only advantage the 3.2 has is no expensive turbo bill if it goes bang.

Yeah, but the £400 a year tax for the 2.8T compared to £210 for the 3.2 puts me off... I cant seem to find a 05/55 registered 2.8T... with 2006 being the start of the high tax bands.

The first 2.8's were registered as 2006 06 plates from what I remember. There wont be any 2005 ones about I dont think

Dude: work out your fuel bill for the year, then add on another 190 squid and see how much difference it makes...

This is exactly what the government are trying to get people to do - chop in their cars for smaller ones because they see the tax increase, which compared with the cost of motoring in general isn't really that much...

Yep it only works out at 4 tanks of petrol (drive it hard you could use that in a week), not really enough to make you stop buying the car surely.

£190 works out just under £4 a week

Thats one less drink out every week or one less take away a month

Its nothing. Get the 2.8Turbo and get it remapped. With 300bhp and 400 lb/ft of torque, the GSI aint gonna get close at any sensible level of tune.

Given the cash, I'd chop my GSi in 2mrw for a anything with a 2.8 turbo engine. IMO, I find the GSi gutless below 4k revs but then it flies (a de-cat did has helped though). I found the 2.8T much more willing to pull from 2000 rpm and loads more grunt. VX said years ago when the Omega came out that big normally aspirated V6's are lethargic, hence they came up with that strange plenum design that opens fully at 4000rpm.

    Waffling now - 2.8T yes, 3.2V6 no.
