They are improved over the standard speakers although would benefit from having the doors properly sound proofed which I haven't got round too yet. I run them off a Pioneer DVD flip screen thingy which is 4x 50 or 60w.

How many speakers do you want amped and where are they? The trick will be finding a suitable space for the amp and just running the wires to and from it. It shouldn't be difficult, pretty much the same as amping a sub.

I've just done this at weekend. PICS TO FOLLOW. I ran some new speaker cables back from the amp to the back of the stereo and connected them all up there. Got the same Pioneer custom fit speakers and a kenwood 4x60w amp. Sounds awesome now.

To answer the questions about wattage.......

Your stereo is 4x50 watts MAX which is about 4x20watts RMS
If you buy an amp such as mine 4x60 watts they are measured in RMS, so really you are looking at 4x150 watts MAX. Most nowadays have both measurements on them as do speakers but headunits tend to be a bit deceptive and only quote MAX.

MAX is the maximum output that the amp can handle if the conditions are perfect such as temperature, current etc, which they never are. RMS is the measurement you should be getting on day to day use in normal conditions.

    Hope this helps.
