Default 2.2 Cam Chain when should it be changed?

Anyone know the mileage for when the cam chain should be changed.

I've the modified one (all black rocker cover) but not sure when it should or should have been changed.

    Don't want it snapping

iirc it doesn't need replacing - it's a 'life of the engine' part. That's what I was told about the cam chain in my 2.0T - so I'd imagine it's the same in the 2.2. A phone call to the dealer to confirm wouldn't do any harm though!

Wasn't aware the chain type needed changing. I enquired for my 2.2 dti which is chain driven and was informed it doesn't need replacing. Only time these chains can snap is when poor quality oil is used or service intervals are to long for the mileage. The nozzle that lubricates the chain becomes blocked thus drying the chain out and snappage!!

Annoying as the dealer was asked whether it needed changing on the last service but they failed to comment.

It doesn't need changing, but hey! it's up to the owner really, if you want peace of mind change it anyway, also to put your mind at rest, if there is a problem on the horizon you will hear it, so if it becomes rattly or you are getting other noises from that area act now not later.

    Vehicle : Vec B sri150 & GTi 150

Vx say the chain is good for 100k & over .

Change the oil & filter every 6k or 6 months & you will be fine .

I was aware there is an issue of cam chain failure on the Vec B because of the oil jet nozzle getting blocked because of the prolonged service intervals & also the circumference of the nozzle being smaller .

But I was told the Vec C had the modified oil jet nozzle fitted from factory .

Should last the life of the rest of the engine, provided it's been maintained correctly.
