Default Daddy to be buying signum as a "daddy cool" family bus.

Hi guys (and gals if there is any)

Basically, My wife and I have owned many cars and been members of their relevant owners clubs, some of which i still have and wont be being sold (350bhp nissan 200sx, concourse Mk3 Ford Escort RS1600I), now the time has come where i am (all being well) going to be a dad for the first time, so my missus's modified Seat ibiza Tdi PD130 is being sold and replaced with a diesel signum because lets face it, they are a "daddy cool" car!!
So, i'm here initially to use your guys knowledge about the cars, absorb and learn all the pros and cons of the signums, buyers guides of what to look for when i go looking at them (any links appreciated) and then later become a forum regular.

look forward to hearing what some of you guys have to say.

    Cheers,

    Andy and Babs.

Absolutely. I'll be sorry to see it go when the time comes. I just hope the Insignia Sports Tourer lives up to it's expectations as the probable intended replacement.

Hi Andy & Babs, Welcome to the site, Gotta say i approve of your taste in cars, Never had an RS1600i (plenty of other RS's though) but always liked them alot, really like the interior in them, seats are a bit nicer than the mk3 series one RS Escort.. haven't seen an RS1600i around for ages..

    cheers guys,
We're looking at a manual, either the 1.9CDTi 16v 150bhp or the 3.0 V6 CDTi, we want an elite i think with as many extras as possible but leather is preferably for cleaning baby stuff up, and around 2004/2005 reg. My missus wants it to be blue preferably, i'd like black, but its her car at the end of the day.... We have a max budget of £7k which looking at autotrader/carpages/fish4cars is plenty.
We've seen a few possibles which hopefully we will be looking at this weekend. All i need now is some pointers as to what to look for on the cars when looking at them, i'm not familiar with vauxhalls, although i am an engineer and my father has an MOT & repairs garage so we should be able to see most of the stuff. any pointers, however small much appreciated...
