    Default "sssssshhhhhh" Noise when Braking

Took my dads car for a drive yesterday and last week, its a FL SRI CDTI 150.

Basically I noticed something-it maybe nothing but need to clarify!

When I press the brakes, im noticing that it makes a "sssshhhhhh" type sound, almost as though the brakes are low.

But I have had all 4 wheels off and the pads have loads left on them yet.

The car only has 21k genuine miles on and has been serviced at the correct intervals, etc.

It brakes OK, its just a noise that I heard and it annoyed me as its usually a sign for new brake pad's, etc.

    Can someone assist please?

    Thanks.

I get exactly the same noise when braking. Only notice it when the radio is off and the windows up. Brakes seem perfectly fine.

thats all it is a had the same problem on a few cars its because the break discs rust up fast when not getting used i.e left standing over night or left standing while in work nothing to worry about at all

Did you check the pads on both the inside and outside of the disc? I ask because I've recently changed the discs and pads on the back of mine (at 42k miles) - the pads on the outside of the disc had quite a bit of friction material left on them but the ones on the inside were flat ... my last Vectra did the same.

I've heard of this before G!

It's quite common and mainly happens at night.

It's your wheels making that sound as they are trying to get some sleep but the brakes keep waking them up!!!!!

    SSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Snowman, you got your ears on?
