    Default EGR valve disabling

Removed the egr valve and blanked etc and fitted a cheater (supplied by Z22SE site) a few months ago and all seems well, have since , however heard that when VX do it they remove egr and blank off, then update the ecu software to disable it or something, does anyone know exactly what the software update does in comparison to fitting a cheater i.e does it re-map the ecu or is it just a disabling thing? BTW, car is a 2003 2.2 petrol (Z22SE engine)
    Cheers Pete

To be honest mate the thing was a pain in the backside mate, used to make the car somewhat hesistant under certain throttle openings , firstly removed it and gave it a thorough clean out appled 12v to it out of the car and plunger was moving fine , however when fitted back onto the car the hesitancy was still there, since removing and blanking etc no more hesitancy , so whether there is a slight delay in it receiving the signal from ECU?, under certain load conditions, I don't know, anyway all good without it.

Tadpole, tell me about it mate, I'm sick of 'em these days, spent years working on cars, and had so much more success when they all had Carbs , points etc i.e something you could adjust and feel the difference as it were, spent a lot of money years ago on timing guns, co2 tester and various other gadgets, and now they're all pretty much redundant, might have to get rid of the Veccy and get myself an old car , to bring back my love of cars!!

I think it's more the luck of the draw these days. Not saying all cars are the same but so much of it has to be done by the garage & an electronic wand. If the person using it knows what he's at fine, but look how many times they are wrong. So far so good for me at present five months of owning a 'C' but should things start to play up I think I would go for a Toyota. We shall see Pete .............
