    Can any one tell me at what revs does the turbo kick in please?

    My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

    Nah, waay lower than that. You'll start to feel it from as low as 1500, even a bit less.

    i agree with that, around 1500ish, when i drive properly i change gear at @3000rpm, easily pulls up hills and makes good progres, my old car,which was a 2.0 normally aspirated engine would never have drove like that!

    I'm a little worried my turbos not "pulling its weight" LOL. My car doesnt fly off until at least 2.5k revs. How can I check what its doing and when??? Just listen?

    Mine is the same it come's in sub 2k rev's, if you accelerate and lift off around just above 2k you will hear the dump value blowing off.

    Maybe the only way to really find out if the turbo is working as it should would be to fit a boost gauge?

    You can just feel it, and also hear the turbo spool up. As Steven said if you lift off sharply around 2K after starting to accelerate, you'll hear it dump the excess boost so you'll know it's already been generating boost by 2K.

    Yep, a gauge is certainly the best way to see what the turbo is doing and if it's behaving properly. That's why I fitted mine, as it was when mine was playing up and I wanted to see what was going on.
