    Default Changing Auto Transmission Oil

Hi, I've just bought I vectra 3.2 GSI (2003) and am new to these forums.
I want to change the auto transmission oil (it's an AF33). Can anyone tell me please, if I can refill the box using the green dipstick hole or do I have to refill using the Filler Plug (or does it not matter which). There seems to be easier access to the green dipstick hole so I'm tempted to use that. Also is it really necessary to use new seals when refitting the drain/fill plugs?
Thanks in advace for any help anyone can offer!

Haynes manual, which doesn't cover the GSi specifically but does cover your AF33 gearbox, says do it through the filler plug. Don't ask me why but that's how I did mine.

Just a point to bear in mind, I put 0.5lt more than what they say in Haynes, to get the correct level on the dipstick.

Have you got the oil yet? If not, here's one option http://www.partsforsaabs.com/product...oducts_id=3454.

Also have a look at this thread http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...light=93160393

EDIT - I used the same seals.

PM me if you need any more info, only 20 miles east of you.

    Default Re-2.2auto tranny

You need to check and renew the oil.it's well over due. The correct oil is ATF 3309/T-iv. Also used in saabs. I think change interval is every 40k miles. Do more seach on here as the topic has been covered. Thanks

Either get the fluid from vx or saab , no other grade is correct.
Use the filler plug on top of the box with the torx head to refill , use some pastic hose and a funnel to assist you .
Check the level afterwards with the engine running and selector in park , hope this helps .

Hangon lads, I could be wrong, but generally a VX autobox needs the bottom plate taken off to drain the oil, and you should replace the filter and check for filing's, also you can't do a full change as some oil remains in the rad and pipes, and the method for checking the level is normally done with the engine running and a bung plug in the side, might be different on this box, but be careful it's a costly mistake if you get it wrong.
